Randy's Job Offer

Randy recieved a job offer to California! Exciting change for the family

Kids responses:
Jordan's first concern when we told them to think about what he thought of moving was he started crying and then said, "But, I won't get to play with Tyler." He was then concerned with playing Hockey. He then said he didn't want to talk about it anymore and then started crying again and said "But, Tyler won't be my cousin anymore. Can we not talk about this anymore?"

Kinsey was concerned about going to a different school and leaving her friends. She expressed exactly how Randy and I feel. She said, "It sounds like a good opportunity for Dad's work but I will really miss people." She also expressed concern about missing out on her new soccer team and about not going to Seven Peaks this summer!

This job opportunity would be one Randy would really enjoy and it could provide future opportunites for our family. The cost of living in California is such an increase that we would not have the same lifestyle we have here. But as we prayed and fasted we were feeling like we should make the sacrifice and blessings would come. This was a hard decision and would require a lot of Faith but we couldn't deny feeling like we were suppose to give up what we had for the opportunity and blessings would come our way. So, on Friday we decided to tell California that we were excited about the opportunity and we were ready to move forward. They asked us to book flights to come into town on the following Thursday and learn more about the area and job.

The next morning Randy and I began to feel uneasy about the decision we made. By Monday night I had so much stress in my shoulders and they were aching so bad I couldn't sleep. Tuesday Randy decided he couldn't book the flights. He spoke with many district managers who helped him feel better about not taking the job. We decided we better call california back and let them know that we were no longer interested in the Job. The relief we have felt since we made this decision is beyond description. It took about 4 hours for me to even get to a point that i felt normal again.

Kinsey had already told everyone at school we were moving and she was really worried everyone would be mean about her saying otherwise now. So, to help ease the news, we decided to let the kids take donuts to school to celebrate our decision to stay in Utah!

Although this experience was very difficult I have learned many things.

Here is my list:
1- Always follow the spirit, even if you don't understand fully!
2- Don't be afraid to move backwards with a decision.
3- If you are going to make a career change it better pay off for the family or don't even consider it.....unless the spirit directs you otherwise.
4- Praying and Fasting work!
5- Heavenly Father cares about each one of us.
6- That I need to do my best and make a difference where ever I am!
7- I Love a lot of people!
8- I love my home and neighboorhood!
9- I love my Family.
10- I have great supportive Kids who love me!
